Navigating the Path to High School: CCHS to Welcome Grade 8 Students

CRPS students transitioning into Gr. 9 next fall will embark on an exhilarating journey on April 24 as they step into the dynamic realm of life as a student at Canmore Collegiate High School (CCHS). Led by enthusiastic teachers and student ambassadors, these soon-to-be high schoolers will delve into an immersive tour experience crafted to acquaint them with the academic, extracurricular, and support services awaiting them in August 2024.

The day kicks off at 10 a.m. sharp in the theatre, where the school’s leadership team will extend a warm welcome to the incoming Grade 8s, highlighting why CCHS is the place to be. From there, students will be divided into groups, each guided by a “Wolverguide” and accompanied by Lawrence Grassi Middle School and Exshaw School staff dedicated to ensuring students feel comfortable and supported.

As students embark on their journey, they'll have the chance to explore nine distinct stations, each offering a glimpse into the dynamic facets of life at CCHS. From woodworking and technical design in the woodshop to the creative realms of art and music, students will have the opportunity to engage with passionate teachers and student ambassadors who embody the spirit of innovation and exploration.

Along the journey, students will also have the chance to interact, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into the various academic and extracurricular offerings available. From cafeteria services to Indigenous support services, no stone is left unturned as CCHS opens its doors to the next generation of learners.

The tour culminates with a wrap-up session in the gym, where students can ask any lingering questions and receive guidance on next steps before embarking on their journey at CCHS. It's a day filled with excitement, discovery, and anticipation as CCHS paves the way for a seamless transition and a bright future ahead for CRPS’ Grade 8 students. We hope students are ready for their first step! CCHS and CRPS looks forward to welcoming tomorrow’s leaders.
