Alpenglow Students to Lace Up for Earth Day Run – Become a Sponsor!

On April 25, Alpenglow School’s Grade 5/6 students will lace up their sneakers for a purpose that goes beyond the finish line: the Alpenglow Earth Day Run. This isn't just a run; it's a stride towards conservation, with all proceeds benefiting the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y) in recognition of their Earth-supporting endeavours.

From 1 to 3 p.m. students will race around the school on a set 400-meter trail, aiming to complete as many laps as possible in 45 minutes. Family, friends, and community members are invited to support these young runners, by sponsoring a student per lap or with a flat donation. This initiative fosters accountability as each participant will present their official certificates, earned post-run, to their sponsors in exchange for donations.

The Alpenglow Earth Day Run is more than a fundraiser; it's a vibrant celebration of our Earth, as participants are encouraged to don Earth Day colors or costumes, adding a festive twist to the day’s environmental advocacy.

Beyond the cause, there's a sweet reward for the runners: a baked treat to cap off their exertion. The community is encouraged to join, not only in sponsorship but also in spirit, to cheer on these young environmental ambassadors.

Get involved. Contact Hans Holthuis or Annabel Preece to find out how as a community members you can sponsor a runner. Let's cheer these students on as they run for our Earth, and remember, the race for conservation can’t be won alone!
