The Brief - April 30, 2025

As highlighted in the April 30 edition of "The Brief," the Canadian Rockies Public Schools Board of Trustees made the difficult decision to reduce approximately 150 of the 306 seats currently allocated for Stoney Nakoda Nation students, effective September 2025. This move comes after continued uncertainty and reduced federal tuition funding, with the Board advocating for a legally binding tripartite agreement. Trustees also refreshed Policy 4: Trustee Code of Conduct, adding a new appendix to formalize breach procedures and align with Bill 51. Administrative updates were made to the Four-Year Education Plan and student discipline procedures. The Board extended the Legacy Scholarship deadline to May 16 and celebrated upcoming student opportunities, including a G7 Mock Summit, BES’s Kindergarten orientation, and a G7-linked stewardship project in Kananaskis. CRPS will also recognize bus drivers on May 5. The next Board meeting is scheduled for May 21, 2025, in Canmore.
