School Starts August 26, 2024!
After a well-deserved summer break, Canadian Rockies Public Schools (CRPS) will welcome students to a new academic year on Aug. 26, 2024. We know the beginning of a new school year is an exciting time for everyone, and we understand that our families will have many questions as they prepare their children to embark on another year of growth, discovery, and success! Although most information will be shared by your child’s school a few days before school opening, here are a few resources to help you and your child prepare for the first day of school!
When Do Schools Open?

Alpenglow School (K to Gr. 6) August 21, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

When Do Classes Start?
Classes officially start on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024. However, schools offering kindergarten afford students a gradual entry. Please watch for information from your child’s school and bookmark the appropriate kindergarten calendar: Alpenglow, Banff Elementary, Elizabeth Rummel, and Exshaw.
How Do I Register A New Student?
CRPS’ registration process is completed online. If your family is new to CRPS, you must create an account for School Engage. If you are an existing CRPS family but need to register a new family member, sign in to CRPS’ PowerSchool Parent Portal to find the School Engage tab located at the bottom of the menu on the left-hand side. Be sure to reference CRPS’ School Registration Guide for guidance on completing the registration process. If you are new to Canada and require assistance, please contact Settlement Services. Settlement Services supports Permanent Residents, Live-in Caregivers, Refugees and Temporary Foreign Workers transitioning to permanent status living in the Bow Valley – Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise and Kananaskis – no matter the time living in Canada.
How Do I Register For Transportation?
If your child accessed CRPS’ transportation services during the 2023/24 school year, families do not need to re-register their children for the upcoming school year but are asked to watch for a bus pass to arrive in the mail during the month of August.
For first-time registrations, detailed registration steps are outlined under our Transportation Registration and Info.
How Do I Make Changes to Existing Transportation Services?
Families needing to change existing transportation services, such as a change in address, can do so by logging into CRPS’ PowerSchool Parent Portal and updating their profile in the School Engage tab at the bottom of the menu on the left side. Please watch for a bus pass to arrive in the mail during the month of August.
