Welcoming Our Families Back in Style!

Over the month of September and into the fall, CRPS' schools have a variety of activities plan to welcome students and their families back-to-school. Further information on these events will be released by schools in the fall.
Alpenglow School
On Sept. 5, Alpenglow School will host its annual Rose Ceremony, marking the first of two significant events where the entire school community unites to honour the boundless potential of students as they embark on their learning journey. Dating back to 1919, this cherished tradition serves as a poignant symbol of transition for Gr. 1 students as they receive a rose from Gr. 6 students, signifying their passage from kindergarten into the vibrant elementary community. Following this heartfelt gesture, Gr. 1 students pass the rose into the loving hands of their parents, who reciprocate with the gift of a potted plant. Watch for details to be released by the school.
Alpenglow Kindergarten parents are asked to join the school Sept. 5 for a Welcome Tea. More information regarding the time and location will be sent to parents at the start of the school year.
Banff Community High School
Banff Community High School (BCHS) will host its annual Welcome Back BBQ for students on Sept. 1. Hosted by the 2024 graduating class, the event will see students enjoy delicious roasted treats while engaging in great conversation with their peers and BHCS staff. The event runs over the noon hour from 11:25 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.
On Sept. 12, BCHS will hold an information evening for Gr. 12 families. This information session is intended to help Gr. 12 students and their families learn what’s in store for the graduating class as they prepare for their last year in school. On this same night, BCHS will hold an information session for families new to the school and is designed to familiarize families with school operations, course planning, and more. Information on the timing of these sessions will be sent to families in the first week of September.
On Nov. 8, BCHS will open its doors to the entire school community for an Open House. Families are invited to drop by the school between 5:45 and 6:45 p.m. to learn about the school’s programs, meet staff, and see the many facility upgrades completed over the summer.
Banff Elementary School
Banff Elementary School (BES) will host a Meet and Greet, Sept. 14, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Families are invited to tour the school, meet their child’s teacher, and network with other parents. Right From the Start will be on hand offering a 'Take Five' for parents and students of snacks and drinks!
Bring a toonie to BES’ Terry Fox Run, Sept. 22. The event begins with a morning assembly, followed by a run/walk for staff and students. The entire town is invited to join students in raising funds to support the cure for cancer.
