What Would You Say? Calling all Junior and Senior High Students!

Picture yourself at the forefront of change, standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow young leaders, ready to shape the future of education in Alberta. It's time to amplify your voice, ignite your passion, and make a tangible impact on the educational landscape. Are you ready to seize this extraordinary opportunity?

Alberta’s Minister of Education is extending an invitation to junior and senior high school students to join the Minister’s Youth Council for the 2024/25 school year. This exclusive opportunity offers young leaders the chance to directly engage with government officials, including the Minister of Education himself, and advocate for positive changes within the education system.

With recruitment officially commencing on March 25, 2024, the Minister seeks approximately 40 students between the ages of 14 and 19 to represent diverse interests, backgrounds, and perspectives. Council members will delve into topics related to government and the inner workings of Alberta’s education system, providing invaluable insights and recommendations for improvement.

Previous council members have demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and passion for education, embodying the spirit of advocacy and leadership. As such, the Minister is eager to welcome a new cohort of driven individuals who are dedicated to making a difference in their schools and communities.

Students selected for the council will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful discussions, share their ideas, and influence decision-making processes at the highest levels of government. Whether they are passionate about curriculum development, student well-being, or inclusivity initiatives, their voices will be heard and valued.

To be considered, interested students must submit their application packages by April 30, 2024. Detailed information and application instructions can be found on the Alberta Education‘s Student Engagement webpage.

Join the Minister’s Youth Council and be a part of shaping the future of education in Alberta. Your voice matters, and together, we can create positive change for all students across the province.
